The Young Progressives Party, YPP, East Itam 111, Ward 5 in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has vowed to deliver Obong Bassey Albert as governor in May Elections.

The people unanimously spoke in one voice during a Town Hall Meeting/Sit – Out – Party held at the weekend to consolidate on the overwhelming endorsement of the party in the State.

Declaring the parley opened, the Ward Chairman, East Itam 111, Ward 5 in Itu Local Government Area, Mr. Nelson Effiong said, the undiluted loyalty of Itu/Ibiono Ibom people and other YPP members across the State is for the realization of thier candidate’s aspiration, Obong Bassey Albert Akpan as governor in May this year.

According to him, “Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in Uyo Senatorial District over the years had been in the forefront of politics of the state, and has supported other zones to produce governors.

“Other Federal Constituencies making the Senatorial District such as; Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium and Uyo Federal Constituencies had variously produced governors but Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency is yet to do. We are prevailing on the people of the state to note that, by equity, it is our turn to produce governor now.

“Gone are the days for politics of peanuts because, I know that, having a governor from the Federal Constituency would fast tract infrastructural and human capital development.

“It is only YPP that has given us the opportunity to produce a governor through Obong Bassey Albert who will engender a better Akwa Ibom.

“Therefore, I called on the members and the good people of Akwa Ibom State not to relent in their support for “OBA” and other candidates of the party”.

The chairman however, enjoined the people of Ward 5 and other electorate to vote wisely as OBA knows the pulls of the people as a grassroots man.

He also noted that, the Governorship candidate has promised to recover, reconcile and reposition the state for good if given the mandate adding that, Senator Akpan has paid his dues through the provision of scholarship awards to over 800 indigent students in tertiary institutions, payment of medical bills to the needy and empowerment of the people amongst others.

Others present at the meeting were; Chairman, Board of Trustees, AKUF, Hon. Charles Ndanyongmong, YPP Chapter Officers, Ward Chairmen, Ward 5 Exco Members, YPP senatorial candidate, Barr. Usenobong Akpabio who was represented by his campaign DG, Otobong Okpongkpong, Itu YPP House of Representatives candidate represented by his DG, Mr. Idorenyin Esara and House of Assembly candidate, Hon.
