Ronaldo names who should’ve won best player of 2022 World Cup ahead of Messi
Brazil legend, Ronaldo Nazario, has identified France forward Kylian Mbappe as the player who should have won the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball (best player of the tournament) instead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating France 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.
Messi scored a brace during the final on December 18 against France as the match ended in a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes.
Mbappe, on the other hand, netted a hat-trick against Argentina during the encounter.
Both Paris Saint-Germain stars also scored their respective spot-kicks in the penalty shootout as Messi took home the Golden Ball, while Mbappe won the Golden Boot for the top scorer award.
However, according to Ronaldo, who won the 1994 and 2002 FIFA World Cup with Brazil, Mbappe deserved the Golden Ball award over Messi.
He told Apostagolos: “In the final, he [Mbappe] is almost unstoppable and he should have been named the World Cup’s best player because he richly deserves it.”
