N407.32bn Debt: You’re exposing your incompetence to govern, Osun APC tell Adeleke

Worried by the invariability of the incidents of goofing by Governor Ademola Adeleke since he mounted the political leadership of the state 20 days ago, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned him to desist from justifying his inability and incompetence to successfully govern the state by giving frivolous, fabricated, unfounded, diversionary and misplaced allegations against his predecessor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

It would be recalled that Adeleke yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, during the meeting of the state council of traditional rulers at the state ministry of finance building, Abere, Osun State, accused the Oyetola administration of leaving a debt of N407.32billion for his administration.

According to a statement issued by the State Acting Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, yesterday, Governor Adeleke’s outcry about the imaginary N407.32 billion debt that he said he inherited was a cover-up for his incompetence and non-preparedness to give quality governance to the people of the state.

The State APC Acting Chairman stated that it was a pity that Adeleke did not do his proper homework before he boldly came out to call Oyetola a bad name in order to hang him.

Lawal reminded the satellite governor who apparently is ruling Osun State by proxy that he should wake up and face governance properly if only he would have the required natural endowments to perform optimally as governance is not about mere dancing to any sound.

He stated that the visibly unproven outburst of Governor Adeleke was an indication that he needs a thorough and comprehensive lesson on governance as his prevailing ridiculous approach to governance is a glaring express way to imminent administrative perdition which will not be in the overall interest of the people of the state.

Lawal disclosed that it was suspected that the Adeleke manufactured story of the phony N407.32 billion inherited debt profile apart from the debt owed local contractors was a hoax and the elongation of his unjustifiable negative political game of vindictiveness, vengeance and oppression against his predecessor which has missed the target.

The state APC acting chairman hinted that it was worrisome that a whole state Chief executive could goof again without a substantiated proof other than a piece of paper that was given to him to read stoically in a staccato manner by an heavily and obviously compromised state Accountant-General who pungently and flagrantly absconded from his office and abandoned his official job to be wining and dining with the Adelekes about ten days to the end of the legitimate tenure of former Governor Oyetola.

He told Governor Adeleke that the Osun State people are not interested in his alibi not to perform in the office as such excuses were an anathema to those who ruled the state before him.

In Lawal’s words: “If you don’t know what to do with power, there is a noble option for you to tender your letter of resignation and tender a deep apology for the people of the state without further delay.

“It is high time that you stopped behaving like a local government chairman who has a tiny integral part of the state to govern in order not to bring misfortune to the hitherto prosperous state where government workers were collecting their salaries as and when due while developmental projects were ubiquitous across the nooks and crannies of the state.

“Your sordid and uneviable approach to governance has further underscored the saying that it’s pretty impossible for someone to give what he does not possess as it is in the public knowledge that you had never been bestowed with any leadership role either privately or corporately in your life before you were dubiously foisted on the people of the State of the Virtuous as the governor.

“If not that you were displaying exposition of incapacity to handle governance, why did you fail in your allegation of the N407.32 billion inherited debt to state from which banks with the corresponding dates that former Governor Oyetola borrowed the money from?

“What was the loan meant for; how was it obtained; how was it spent and did you find out from the financial houses to ascertain if the imaginary loan passed due diligence test required for such?

“It was even observed that you extended your query to some nameless banks on the issue at stake which could be viewed by rational-thinking people as a frivolous arrogation of executive powers which your office does not possess.

“Take a stock and find out how and why you and your government have been getting it wrong in all fronts and effect a redress for the length of time it pleases God for you to occupy the number one seat in Osun State.

“The thinking out there is that you are like a proverbial artful dodger who steals a car key but finds it impossible to start the vehicle to talk less of moving it.

“The grandstanding of Governor Adeleke is a ploy to feign an alibi for the state government workers that it would not be possible for him to offset their salary/pension arrears as a result of the alleged inherited debt in line with his campaign promises to pay same within six months of the life of his administration.

“Is it not funny that instead of Adeleke to be on pupillage under the immediate-past Governor Oyetola on his magic wand for not failing to pay salaries and pensions as and when due throughout his tenure, the PDP governor abandoned governance for politics to the detriment of his administration.

“The whole world is watching your actions and inactions during this period which is an ugly and disheartening passing phase in the political history of our state”, the Acting State APC chairman submitted.
