Japaulgold, others lift market capitalisation to N32bn

Equities market on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), yesterday close on positive posture as, Thomaswy, Japaulgold and eight others lift market capitalization to N32 billion.

Consequently, at the close of trade yesterday, the All-Share Index (ASI) grew significantly by 59.8 absolute points, representing an increase of 0.12 per cent to close at 48,426.49 points from 48,366.69 points it closed trade on Tuesday.

Respectively, the investors appreciated by 32 billion in value as market capitalisation rose to N26.376 trillion from N26.344 trillion it closed for previous trading.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalised stocks amongst are Thomaswy, Japaulgold, Nigerian Breweries, Maybaker and others.

Analysis of yesterday’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 5.55 per cent.

Yesterday, the total trade volume declined by 20.8 per cent to close 146,206,309 million units valued at N3.356 billion were exchanged in 2,810 deals.

FBNH led the volume chart with 59.27 million units traded, while GEREGU power topped the value chart in deals worth N1.53 billion.

The market sentiments as measured by market breadth closed negative as 10 stocks led the gainers as against 15 stocks that led the losers.

Thomaswy led on the advancers table which rose from N0.40 to N0.44, up by 10 per cent, Japaulgold which followed grew from N0.27 to N0.29, up by 7.41 per cent, while HONEY FLOUR increased from N2.28 to N2.42, up by 6.14 per cent.

Maybaker which recorded as the last fourth gainer grew from N3.80 to N38.50, up by 5.26 per cent and Nigerian Breweries which recorded as the last fifth gainer rose from N36.80 to N38.50, up by 4.62 per cent.

However, SCOA came as the highest loser with 9.38 per cent to close at N0.87 per share Followed by Unity Bank which depreciated by 7.02 per cent to close at N0.53 per share and Cornest which recorded as the last third loser dipped by 6.25 per cent to close at N0.45 per share.

Courtville Business Solution dropped by 6.00 per cent to close at N0.47 per share.

Chams Plc which recorded as the last fifth loser went down by 4.35 per cent to close at N0.22 per share.

Transaction in the share of First Bank Holding of Nigeria topped the activities chart with 59.271 million share worth 639.973 million, Geregu power which followed transacted 14.276 million shares valued N1.534 billion, While Zenith Bank transacted 12.510 million shares valued N275.685 million.

Sterling Bank traded 7.024 million shares worth N9.0688 million

United Bank of Africa traded 6.915 million shares worth N50.455 million.
