Ife postpones Ife Day celebration

The Ife Development Board (IDB) has announced the postponement of this year’s Ife Day ceremonies earlier scheduled to hold between the 6th and 8th October, 2022.

Announcing the new date, the chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Yomi Layinka, in a statement, said, the new date for Ife Day 2022 is Saturday, 10th December, 2022 while the preceding days will serve to host other events that will usher in the D-Day.

The postponement was made at the instance of the authority and directive of the Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi,
Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife,

According to the statement, “the event is designed to celebrate Ife and its manifold blessings as well as to renew our visions and collective commitment to the building of a better, modern and sustainable Ile Ife”.

The statement reads in part; “we sincerely apologize for the regrettable postponement, please be assured that the decision was taken to ensure an even more befitting celebration by all stakeholders”.

“As we may be aware, December 7th, 2022 marks the 7th Anniversary of the historic coronation of our revered father, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi as Ooni of Ife. The choice of the new Ife Day is therefore intended to fit into the glorious celebration as well as to allow many of our citizens, guests and stakeholders to join in the felicitations as the Yuletide season unfolds”.
