2023: Do not compromise peaceful exercise – Lawyer advises youths

A legal practitioner, Mr Wasiu Ibrahim, has advised Nigerian youths not to compromise peaceful exercise, adding that they reject any offer to cause political tension and violence during the 2023 general election.

Giving the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday, Ibrahim said youths must be agents of peace before, during and after the elections.

He warned them against being pressured into destructive actions, saying election is not a ‘do or die’ affair.

“Reject whatever will cost you your peace, sanity and future. You will be romanced into working as political thugs for some of these politicians, but let the fear of God be your guide.

“Be patriotic and careful, think about your future and not the money on the table.

“Do not work as a thug for anybody, ask them to give you scholarship for your education instead, you too can become the president of Nigeria in the nearest future,” he said.

The lawyer also advised politicians to not jeopardise the future of the youths and keep to whatever promises they make during the campaigns, while urging them to accept whatever the outcome of the election.
