Ogun PDP candidates’ list: Nobody should rejoice until judgement is served – Showunmi

Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

A governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has said that the loyalists of Hon Ladipupo Adebutu, should rejoice less over the list of candidates as published yesterday by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

INEC had published Hon Ladipupo Adebutu among others as the governorship candidate for the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Otunba Segun Showunmi in a statement on Wednesday has however urged those rejoicing over the recognition of Hon Adebutu as the PDP governorship candidate for the state to rejoice less because the matter is still pending before an Abeokuta Federal High Court.

It would be recalled that, Showunmi had dragged Hon Sikirulahi Ogundele led leadership of the party before the State High Court seeking for its dissolution.

The former Media aide to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had informed the court to dissolve the state party executives and never allow them to conduct the primary producing the candidates for 2023 elections alleging that the activities of the leadership of the party had shown their preference for Hon Ladipupo Adebutu, one of the aspirants.

Though the High Court had earlier dismissed the case but an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja ruled that the suit be heard on merit and therefore returned the case file to the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta.

Showunmi said “we are in court, and so, a list released by INEC in the case of Ogun means nothing for election until the case is decided. And soon, it will.

“Let the ignorant rejoice. They will soon “lule”. In the corners of their rooms, they know this. Informed members of the public also know this very well. Let no one deceive anyone. Ahouse built on illegalities cannot stand. On justice we wait”
