Police launch special operation to restore peace in Kano
Police in Kano State have launched “Operation Restore Peace” to replace “Operation Puff Adder.”
This was stated by the newly posted state Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawal, while briefing police personnel after assuming office.
He explained that the aim is to tackle the menace of thuggery (Daba), drug abuse (Kwaya), and other heinous crimes within the state.
According to him,” we will strengthen the capacity of our Tactical Units and Divisional Police Offices to achieve our goals.”
The commissioner noted that part of the anti-crime strategies that will be incorporated into the Command’s Action Plan includes robust community policing engagements, intelligence-led policing, visibility policing, use of technology in tackling crimes, synergy with sister security agencies, and community policing stakeholders.
Other plans are; sustaining Operation Restore Peace, strengthening the Public Relations Department of the command, and massive public enlightenment and sensitization.
“We will work to the best of our ability to ensure that Kano State is safe and secured for everyone to live in.
” We, therefore, need the cooperation, support, and encouragement of all, as no stone will be left unturned as far as fighting crimes and criminality is concerned,” the commissioner said.
