The former House leader, Ife East Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Fawole has cited insensitivity, greediness, marginalisation and incompetence as reasons for their defection into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Tajudeen, who spoke on behalf of other defectors at a rally organised by the All Progressives Congress in Ile-Ife on Sunday, said he and other members of his former party reached a decision to dump their former party for APC to join hands with the government of Adegboyega Oyetola for the continuity of his good work in the State and Ile Ife in particular.

According to him, “The PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke imposed on the party has no capacity to govern the state because he lacks intelligence and quality leadership trait that is required to govern a state like Osun. They want to use him to syphone the state resources.

“The acclaimed leader of the party in Ile-Ife (Prof. Wale Ladipo) has pocketed the party who did not allow fair play because of his greediness and dictatorial tendency which has been affecting the party to develop.”

He added, “When they heard of our planned defection, they offered us money so as to remain in the party which we rejected because we have concluded and made up our mind that we are not returning to our former party.

“Those who are thinking that we will soon return to our former party, it is impossible, we are now in original progressive party which we belong to before joining PDP.”

Speaking on the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Tajudeen said the Governor is going to coast home to victory to enable Ile-Ife further enjoy dividends of democracy and urged people of Ile Ife to vote massively for APC and Gboyega Oyetola.

He stressed further that no more PDP in Ile-Ife as all leaders in the party have defected to APC.

Reacting, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ile-Ife, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Olayinka, said that their members who defected to APC in Ile-Ife would soon return to the party as talks is ongoing to pacify the former aggrieved party members.

“Talks are ongoing with them, they are our loyal party leaders, they will soon return to PDP because we know them and we have been together for long and contributed immensely to PDP. We can’t afford to lose them.

“They did not intend to go but feel cheated in the party and the issues raised are being addressed, so I am confident that they will soon return to their original party and take their place,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the APC has commenced rally in Ile-Ife for the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the July 16, Governorship election in the State.

In separate interviews, Hon.Olajide Adeyeye and a former council Chairman, Hon. Olusegun Adeyeni have described the rally as a mother of all rallies in Ile-Ife for the re-election of the Governor, saying APC is fully in control of Ile Ife votes.

“Today’s rally has shown that APC is Ife and Ife is APC, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party is dead in Ile-Ife and the party’s rank and file has been depleted as all their leaders are now members of our party (APC).

“The rally which commences today will last for five days to sensitise Ife people on the need to vote Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for second term in office, so that Ile Ife will continue to enjoy dividends of democracy.”

Adeyeye, who is a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, stressed the need for Ile Ife to vote Oyetola for second term, so that all on going roads construction would be completed.

“There is massive ongoing road construction in Ile-Ife, including Ring-road which will reduce congestion in Ife township as we have in Osogbo. Ile Ife should expect a lot of infrastructural developments and more political offices will be given to Ifes.”

Adeyeye, therefore, urged electorate to vote massively for Oyetola in the July 16 Governorship election in the State.
