June 2022: 20 Ogun LGAs receive N3.82bn

The Ogun State 20 Local Government Areas have received a total of N3,821,939,276.05, which include shares of statutory allocation, Value Added Tax (VAT) and Exchange Gain from the Federal Allocation for the month of June, 2022.

This was made known at the June edition of the Joint Account Allocation Committee meeting held at the Conference Hall, Oba’s Complex, Oke Mosan Abeokuta.

In his presentation, Commissioner for Finance and the Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo represented by the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola, said the total sum of N4,283,468,418.31 were needed to pay up  the firstline charges, which include primary school teachers’ salary, Local Government Staffs’ salary, Pensions, Traditional Council and other charges, adding that, the State will need to support the councils with total sum of N461,529,142.26 in order for them to balance up the firstline charges for the month.

He noted that the sum of N646,524,519.91 which covers PAYE, contributory pension, five per cent bond on pension and cooperative and loans would still be pending until the councils’ finance improve.

Okubadejo assures that the present situation of the state would not affect payment of allocation to appropriate quarters, saying that the moment the FAAC funds hit JAAC account, payments would be made accordingly.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun enjoined stakeholders to continue to work assiduously towards enhancing their internally generated revenue.

Also at the meeting were stakeholders of the Ogun State Traditional Council, Chairman, Association of Retired Primary School Teachers, representative of Bureau of Local Government Pension and Chairman, Local Government Pensioners.
