President Buhari commends Pantami on digital economy performance 

Nigeria’s President, Muham mad Buhari (GCFR) has paid glowing commendations to the country’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami. The President made these remarks during the inauguration of the Presidential Council on e-Government and Digital Economy at the State House in Abuja on Friday 10th June 2022.

“The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has coordinated the digital economy sector very well and his commitment towards carrying out his responsibility in the digital economy sector is very commendable.Our progress as a country has been noted by the international community and has elicited recognition from international stakeholders. The most recent of these is the appointment of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) as the Chairman of the 2022 Forum of the highly regarded World Summit on Information Society (WSIS)”.

Highlighting some unprecedented achievements under the leadership of the Minister including the significant  and sustained contribution of the sector to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Nigeria Digital Economy Policy and Strategy document initiative and its implementation, the pivotal role played by the sector in Nigeria’s early exit from the recession occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, the quantum leap in virtual engagements and services especially the impact of the National Policy on Virtual Engagements for Public Institutions, the establishment of numerous impactful, strategic partnerships among others, the President also remarked that the Minister had been steadfastly implementing his mandate as the sector’s supervisor.
