Some members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Osun state chapter who are delegates in each of the local government in the State have rejected a move by the party leadership to impose House of Assembly and National Assembly candidates on them.

It was gathered that the delegates, who were called to the Government House on Tuesday morning, were asked to sign blank result sheets for the State and National Assemblies primaries in their various local government.

It would be recalled that the party held primaries election into state and National Assembly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively, but no official declaration of winners has been made by the party leaders.

The over 500 delegates were gathered at the Banquet Hall of the Government House for the announcement of the results of the primaries election.

However, the delegates refused to sign the blank result sheets, asking the State Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, to declare who the party choose as candidate in each of the state and federal constituencies.

But Famodun refused to disclose the candidates of the party for the State and National Assembly, insisting that the delegates must sign the result sheets.

However, Famodun angrily left the Banquet Hall of the Government House where the meeting was holding when it was obvious that the delegates were not ready to sign.

The delegates also left the government house, sang abusive songs against the party leaders, calling them Ole (thieves) before they left the venue.

One of the delegates from Ila local government (name withheld) said, “Delegates did not vote. It was the direct primaries. Why asking us to sign results sheets? They are thieves. They want to manipulate the results and we will continue to resist that. The choice of the people should be announced. We can’t sign blank results.”

Another leader of the party in Ife Federal Constituency, who does not want his name on print, said Ife East delegates were mobilised to the Ife East Party Chairman residence to ratify the alleged blank result reps sheet.

He warned the delegates not to sign the fraudulent result sheet, saying rejecting it will be an act of not mortgaging the future of Ife land to Tajudeen Lawal.

According to the party leader, “Let us have election that is free and fair. Don’t allow self-interest leaders to destroy Ifeland. Engr Ben Adereti is not the problem, but those professional politicians who take delight in extorting aspirants. Your future is in God’s hands, not the N100,000 offer. Let us end poverty and encourage grassroot development,” he said.
