Police arraign man over alleged iron door theft

A 32-year-old man, Yusuf Muritala, on Monday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing an iron door and window frames

The defendant, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 19 at about 10:30 p.m., in Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the defendant stole an iron door and window frame valued at N79,000, belonging to one Muhammed Jimoh.

Akinwale said that the offence contravened Section 302(a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case till July 19 for mention.
