Man remanded over N4.6m fraud

Magistrate Ibrahim Muhammed of an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday ordered the remand of one Kingsley Abraham who allegedly hacked customer’s email account and diverted the sum of N4,600,000 to his online account.

The Prosecuting Police Officer, Insp. Nasiru Yusuf, said that the defendant who is a staff at Phone Mart Shop, Taiwo Road, Ilorin, hacked one Chisom Anthony’s account when he took the phone for repair.

Yusuf said that the complainant (Anthony) received debit alert of the said amount when he got home at night as police investigation later discovered that Abraham hacked the account.

He added that Abraham used his online account, Chipper-Cash, to withdraw the money and shared it among his colleagues who are currently at large.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, and Magistrate Muhammed, thereafter, adjourned the matter till June 1, for further mention.
