The Osun state government has temporarily closed Lameco-Agunbelewo road for reconstruction.

This followed Thursday’s flag-off of the 9.8km federal government Road for reconstruction by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Remi Omowaiye, the government said the temporary closure was necessitated by the need to replace inadequate box culvert on that section of the road.

It said the closure will last for two days, beginning on Tuesday 10th May, 2022, adding that traffic through the route will be restored on Thursday 12th May, 2022.

The statement is partly read, “As a follow-up to the flag-off ceremony of the reconstruction of Osogbo(Lameco)-Agunbelewo-Okinni-Ilobu Road by the State Government, we wish to inform the general public that the road will be temporarily closed to traffic due to the replacement of existing and inadequate Box Culvert before ‘Abe Igi Aanu’ by the Contractor handling the project for two (2) days commencing from Tuesday 10th May, 2022 to Wednesday 11th May2022. Normal traffic through this route shall be restored on Thursday 12th May, 2022.

“Agunbelewo/Ilobu/Ifon-bound Traffic are advised to make use of alternative route opposite Jerry Paul Filling Station via Oroki Estate Extension and burst out at Agunbelewo, while Osogbo-bound traffic from Ilobu are to make use of Agunbelewo via Oroki Estate Extension and burst out at Jerry Paul Filling Station.

“The State Government wishes to use this medium to appreciate the good citizens of the State in advance for their perseverance during the short period of closure and to admonish to exercise caution and observe all traffic rules while plying the alternative routes,” the statement read.
