Kwara Surveyors task govt on partnership
By Matthew Denis, Abuja
The umbrella of Nigeria Institutions of Surveyors (NIS) kwara state chapter has called on the state government to patronise local surveyors for efficient execution of projects across the state in accordance with legitimate means abiding by ethical standard.
This is contained in a Communique at the end of their seminar duly signed by the Kwara state Chairman of NIS, Surv. Buhari Musa Eletu and the Secretary, Surv. Ibrahim Saadullahi and made available to journalists on Friday.
The Communique reads, “That the State branch of the NIS should deepen cooperation between the Surveyors in government establishments, academic and those in private practice and to ensure that only Registered professionals are allowed to practice in the State.
“That the State branch should establish Ethic Monitoring Committee under the SSCE with the full support of all stakeholders who will randomly visit sites of surveyors to assess the level of ethical compliance.
“To pursue, using every legitimate means, compliance with the provision that all survey contents of engineering works involving either public or private projects are exclusively bided and carried out by Registered Surveyors; and that no foreign person is allowed to carry out survey works in the State except with the express permission of SURCON.”
It called on NIS to establish rigorous process for proper implementation of the SURCON Guidelines for the conduct of survey practice in Nigeria as contained in the Official Gazette of the Federal Republic of Nigeria No. 113 VOL. 107, 2020
According to the Communique the SURCON State Committee on Ethics (SSCE) in collaboration with the NIS should set up an implementation committee consisting of members from the different subgroups of the NIS.
