2023: Ikenne indigenes walk for Osinbajo, plead for support of Nigerians

Indigines of Ikenne in Ikenne local government area of Ogun State, on Friday, in their thousands, trooped out to show their support and approval for the 2023 presidential aspiration of Prof Yemi Osinbajo who hails from the town.

The indigines of the town, armed with various banners conveying their messages of solidarity and support for Osinbajo began the rally at the house of the Vice President’s father along Ikenne-Odogbolu road and terminated it beside Ikenne Microfinance Bank, near Ayepe junction.

Speaking when the indigines paid homage to him during the rally, the Alakenne of Ikenne Remo, Oba Adeyinka Onakade said that the town received the news of the readiness of the Vice President to contest for the highest office in the country come 2023 with so much joy.

Oba Onakade said that “we are all happy and excited when the news got to us on Monday that our illustrious son and the country’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has joined the presidential race. We have since been praying that God in His Mercy would bring this lofty dream to reality.

“There is no doubt that our illustrious son is competent for the tasks ahead. He has for seven years been working very closely with President Muhammadu Buhari, he is not strange to our challenges in the country, and thankfully, many Nigerians have also recognised that he possesses these qualitaties and that is why they have been calling on him to join the presidential race before his eventual declaration. We are happy and we also call on Nigerians to support our son and make this dream a reality

Oba Onakade thereafter led other chiefs to give royal blessings to the desire of Osinbajo to take over from President Buhari come next year praying the almighty God to bring the dream to pass

Speaking with the journalists, the Chairman of Ikenne Development Association, Otunba Adedoyin Adesina said that the rally was organised to gather more support for the presidential aspiration of Prof Osinbajo.

Otunba Adesina said “many Nigerians have in the past called on Prof Osinbajo to join the presidential race because of his assured capacity for qualitative leadership. Even the little time the Vice President was given to act, the country knew it for good.

“Prof Osinbajo is a technocrat, he is really exposed, he has been part of the government in the last seven years. He knows where the shoes are pinching Nigerians and we have that assurance that things will get a lot better in the country under his leadership. We are only praying that Nigerians will support this altruistic ambition”.

Otunba Adesina equally warned that delegates during the forthcoming APC presidential primaries should steer clear of money bags but cast their votes for Prof Osinbajo who many Nigerians believe has what it takes to move the country to higher height.

Similarly, the President of Ikenne Youths, Comr. Olufemi Arowolo also hailed the sterling
qualities of Prof Osinbajo saying that “the youths have actually organised this rally to drum support for our father and son of the soil, Prof Osinbajo because of his exemplary leadership character.

“The Vice President is not only agile but also intelligent, forward looking and very gifted in the prudent management of men and resources. We have that assurance that with the support of other Nigerians, Prof Osinbajo’s leadership will move this nation forward and we shall all be happy for it”.
