Lagos CP commends Olorunda achievements on security

…Approves immediate deployment of officers to newly commissioned police Station

…Calls for collective efforts on Community security

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu has appreciated the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon Samson Folorunso Olatunde (Samola) for the efforts and achievements in providing adequate security to the citizenry, while grateful to residents for maintaining peaceful coexistence.

AIG Hakeem Odumosu, who led the team of officers to the official commissioning of Ilogbo-Eremi Police Station on Friday 7th, January 2022, also commended the Executive, Legislative, Community Leaders and the residents for supporting the Council Chairman towards the completion of the Police station.

On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman and the Lagos State Police Command, AIG Hakeem Odumosu expressed gratification to the Council Boss and his team for building the befitting Police station and equipping it to serve modern day policing.

He stated his optimism that the Communities and indeed the neighbouring towns will avail themselves of this wonderful opportunity brought to their door steps.

AIG Odumosu said that the newly commissioned Station will add to the already existing Police stations under the Area ‘K’ Police Command, Morogbo and has immediately approved the deployment of Police personnel to the new Station, which a Superintendent of Police, Uche Gabriel was posted as the Head of Administrative and Operational of the Station.

He disclosed that the mission of the Nigeria Police Force was to detect, prevent, fight crime and criminals in the State, with maximum respect for the rights of people.

He stated that the newly built police station would keep criminals who before now had taken the absence of a standard police station cum inadequate personnel to perpetrate criminal activities in the communities at bay.

“It will bring succour and confidence to the over 200,000 people living in the area, and will also bring about relocation of more inhabitants to the area with a view to enjoying the improved security architecture,” he added.

The Police boss disclosed that the state-of-the-art Police Station solely built by the Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, is expected to serve the people of Oke Ira, Iyesi, Aladeogun, Ayede Yeponowa, Damo-Seje, Zuveh/Whezume, Gomajayi, Ijotun, Eye Nkole, Temole and Ikoga communities of the Council, as well as  bring policing closer to the people.

“We assure you that the Officers shall make judicious use of the facility for the benefit of those who have social and interest in the area, as well as law abiding residents of this area.  We will continue to put in our best to ensure that criminals are completely sent out of this area so that social-political, economic and cultural activities can strive without any encumbrances,” he concluded.

In his welcome address at the occasion, the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde thanked the Lagos State  Commissioner of Police for personally honouring the invitation to commission the newly constructed Police Station, and also congratulated him on the new appointment as Assistant Inspector General of Police.

He appreciated the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for actively supporting the Police Commands to be more proactive. “The support has gingered the present administration in OLORUNDA LCDA to take the issue of security very important,” he said.

The Council Mayor stated that the newly built Ilogbo-Eremi Police Station marked another giant stride and achievement in the efforts to give adequate security, protection of lives, properties and maintain peaceful coexistence among the citizens of Olorunda LCDA.

Hon. Olatunde said, “Our communities has been very peaceful and law abiding, as a result of the tremendous cooperation received from the Area Commander, all the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other members of the Security Agencies in Olorunda LCDA.”

While thanking Community Leaders, residents and good people of Olorunda LCDA, as well as all major Stakeholders for their cooperations, especially by being law abiding citizens, the Council Chairman advised them to be security conscious, as the Community and individuals have vital roles to play by reporting any suspicious movement, security threat and all crime suspects to the nearest Police stations.

He further appealed to the people to assist the Government in safeguarding public facilities like the one just provided.

Speaking at the event, the Onilogbo of Ilogbo Kingdom, Oba Moses Olaleye, stressed the importance of security compared to all other necessities of life, saying that security is crucial because everybody needs the assurance of security to be able to perform in all spheres of life.

He seized the occasion to passionately appeal to the Lagos State Police Command to consider the idea of making the newly commissioned Station a Divisional Police Headquarters.

The APC Chairman, Alh. Ade Balogun has commended the Council Boss for on series of developmental projects across Olorunda LCDA.
