Delta lawmaker shot by gunmen

The member representing Ughelli South Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Reuben Izeze Esq., has been reportedly shot by unknown gunmen

The lawmaker who allegedly survived the attack was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Izeze was said to have been attacked around Effurun area of the state in an ambush by the hooligans who were on rampage in the oil rich city.

It was learnt that the lawmaker was returning home when the gunmen suspected to be assassins opened fire on his vehicle.

Izeze, who was allegedly shot at a closed range, was reported to be responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.

It was also learnt that the legislator’s driver was abducted during the attack but was released later.

When contacted over the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed that there was a failed attemp to kidnap the lawmaker, adding that the police was on the heel of the kidnappers.
