Sylvester Oromoni: Three Dowen students in custody — Lagos CP
By Racheal Oyelola
The Lagos State police command has arrested three students in connection with the death of the late Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni.
Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.
Odumosu said the students in custody are assisting the police in their investigation.
Meanwhile, the late Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old Dowen College student, had before his death named five students who allegedly beat him up in school.
Consequently, the incident had led to Oromoni’s death on November 27th, 2021.
The social media had been agog following the report of the death of Sylvester as Nigerians are agitating for justice to be served.
It was learnt that Oromoni had been beaten for refusing to join a cult group in Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos State.
The school management had, however, debunked it, claiming the boy sustained injuries while playing football at the school.
However, a relative of the deceased student revealed that a series of tests and X-rays indicated that Oromoni sustained multiple internal injuries from being badly beaten up.
Before his death, the boy reportedly said the school’s cult members threatened to kill him if he reported them.
It was also learnt that Oromoni had mentioned a few names of the students who pressured him to join their cult group before he died.
In a swift reaction, the state government had ordered the immediate closure of the school.
