Gov. Emmanuel orders intervention works at eroded portion of Calabar-Itu Highway

Akwa Ibom’s Gov. Udom Emmanuel has ordered immediate intervention works on a portion of the Calabar-Itu Highway in Akon, Itu Local Government Area of the state damaged by gully erosion.

Mr Charles Udoh, Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, stated this in Uyo on Tuesday.

He advised the public to be cautious within the vicinity of the erosion sites throughout the duration of the intervention.

The dilapidated gully site has claimed many lives lately.

“Gov. Udom Emmanuel has approved the immediate commencement of emergency intervention works at devastating gully erosion at Akon Itam, in Itu local government area of the state.

“This approval is another demonstration of the governor’s unalloyed commitment to the protection of lives and property of residents and citizens of Akwa Ibom,’’ he stated.
