Declare bandits federal civil servants — Shehu Sani to FG

By Moses Adeniyi

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has sarcastically urged the Federal Government to declare bandits as federal civil servants since it has refused to view them as terrorists.

Sani who has been critical of the Federal Government over national matters of concern, particularly security, on Monday lamented the killing of Christian and Muslim worshippers in their religious houses by bandits.

Commenting via his Twitter handle, Sani said: “They [bandits] killed Muslim worshippers in their mosques in Niger and Katsina states; they killed Christians in their Churches in Kaduna State; if the government doesn’t want to declare them terrorists, it should declare them federal civil servants.”

It would be that some gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Baptist Church, Kakau Daji in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two while scores were reportedly abducted.

Sani, who reacted to the incident in an earlier tweet, described as useless the suspension of telecommunication services in the North which was meant to tackle the bandits.

He said, “Yesterday’s attacks on the Baptist Church Kakau Daji, Kaduna State by terrorists, the killing of some worshippers and the abductions of scores of others are tragic and unfortunate. The suspension of the telecoms services in the North is useless.”
