DPR engages NSCDC to tackle illegal petroleum product marketing in Anambra

Everestus Chimezie Obiyo, Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) has reiterated commitment to waging war against illegal dealings in Petroleum Products in the state.

Obiyo stated this when he received in audience Engr. Victor Ojiakor the Operations  Controller Awka Field Office of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Awka at the State Command Headquarters.

Obiyo pledged to strengthen its partnership with the DPR  in the  prosecution of illegal petroleum dealers operating illegally  in the state.

According to him, the Command under his watch has effectively deployed Personnel of Anti Vandalism Unit to monitor and apprehend dealers of adulterated Petroleum Products which has yielded results with  the number of arrests made so far by the Command.

He enjoined the Management of the DPR to collaborate more  with the Command in enhancing continuous public awareness campaign against unauthorized dealings in Petroleum Products.

The Operations Controller of the DPR , Engr. Victor Ojiakor lauded the Anambra NSCDC for its pragmatism and professionalism in the arrest  and prosecution of suspects dealing illegally in Petroleum Products in the State.

Engr. Ojiakor said, “For us to conclude the job, we need to strengthen our partnership with government agencies like NSCDC  to achieve a common goal.”

Engr.  Ojiakor acknowledged  lots of wrong activities in the downstream sector that need the partnership of the NSCDC to bring sanity to the sector as it concerns product movement, quality, sales and storage.

He warned petroleum marketers to desist from violating DPR’s seal order in the state.
