Lagos celebrates Ndubuisi Kanu

The Lagos State Government has begun the rites of passage of the late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, former Military Governor who died on 13th January, 2021.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the late Military Governor, who has been described by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as “a detribalised Nigerian,” deserves to be celebrated because he served Lagos meritoriously and contributed in no small way to the growth of the State.

To celebrate him, Omotoso stated that the Government and people of Lagos State will host a “Day of Tributes” in his honour at De Blue Roof, LTV Compound, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja on Wednesday, 6th October. An Interdenominational Church Service will take place at the Chapel of Christ The Light (Interdenominational), Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday, 7th October, 2021.

The tributes will be led by Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. Civil Society activists, students, youth groups and many others will join the ceremony, which will be streamed live on social media platforms.

Rear Admiral Kanu was one of the leading lights of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, which fought to restore democratic rule after the annulment of the June 12 election, won by the late Chief MKO Abiola but annulled by the military for no reason.
