Police rescue kidnapped victim, recover fire arm in Benue

Benue State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered fire arm, ammunition from kidnappers at Tse – Anjov Village,Welfare Quarters in Makurdi.
In a press release signed by DSP Anene Sewuese Catherine, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police Benue State Command and made available to Nigerian NewsDirect explained that on the 31st August, 2021 at about 11:30pm, information was received that one Dr. Godwin Kwanga of Gaadi layout, Makurdi who left his business premises along George Akume way was kidnapped by unknown gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.
According to the release, the Police operatives were deployed immediately to the area to commence investigation and a Toyota Highlander SUV belonging to the victim was recovered on the same day while investigation continued.
The release further explained that on 2nd September, 2021 at about 10am, information was gathered that the kidnapped victim was held hostage at Tse-Anjov village, Welfare quarters, Makurdi.
On the directive of the Commissioner of Police, operatives invaded the hideout and the suspects on sighting the police engaged them in a gun duel but were overpowered by the police and the kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt while the hoodlums escaped with bullets wounds.
Items recovered according to the release from the scene include; one AK-47 rifle loaded with eight live ammunition, Forty three expanded ammunition and two Toyota Camry vehicles.
The release adviced Members of the public to always provide useful information to the police about any suspected movement of hoodlums and cooperate with officers who are on trial of the hoodlums.
Benue State Command under the watch of CP. Tunji Akingbola, has also assured the good people of Benue State of continuous efforts to rid the state of criminality.
