Kebbi Assembly: Gov. Bagudu describes democratic changes as normal

Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State says the recent change of leadership at the Kebbi House of Assembiy is a normal democratic process.

Bagudu, who is also the Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum, stated this when he received the new leadership of the house on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.

The new leaders were accompanied by other members on a maiden courtesy visit on the governor.

The assembly officials were led by the new Speaker, Alhaji Sani Abubakar-Lolo.

Bagudu said, “I really appreciate that this is part of our democratic tenets where the majority of the members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly exercised their constitutional rights of the choice of their own leaders.

“We wish the new leaders more purpose, more unity, so that together we serve the people of Kebbi State better.

“We appreciate the services rendered by the former Speaker and his Deputy for what they have done for the state.

“I am hereby pledging that we will continue to work together to better the lives of the people of the state.”

In his speech, the new speaker lauded Gov. Bagudu for partnering with the assembly, observing that such partnership would engender distribution of more dividends of democracy.

Abubakar-Lolo pledged continued cooperation with the executives toward bettering the lives of residents across the state.

He assured that all requests from the executive arm on policies and programmes designed to improve the wellbeing of residents would receive prompt approval from members of the house.
