Kwara: Day-old baby girl abandoned at a dump site

Aday-old baby girl was abandoned and was rescued on Friday in  Patigi, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara state.

Nigerian NewsDirect correspondent reports that the timely arrival of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps operative, saved the the life of the abandoned girl.

Spokesman of the Corps state command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, said the incident occurred in Dokoyorigi Compound, Patigi town, Patigi Local Government Area of the state.

He said, “In the early hours of Friday 06/08/2021, one of our officers at the Patigi Divisional Office, on her way to the office, discovered a day old unidentified baby girl.

“The baby was left in a stinking dump site located around Dokoyorigi area of Patigi town,” he added.

The Spokesman revealed that the baby girl who was already becoming unconscious, was later taken to the general hospital in Patigi where she was promptly attended to and her medical condition was stabilised.

A staff of the hospital Tsado Racheal, has also signified her intention to adopt the baby after all the necessary and proper documentation and actions must have been taken.

Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the mother that left the day-old baby in such  condition.
