APC sues for peace among party members, urges PDP to paddle its canoe

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has charged members of its party to settle their grievances amicably by using all the reconciliatory mechanism of the party, urging them to seek for out of court settlements.

The party further chided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to salvage its party from total collapsing by paying more attention to the internal wranglings within it, rather than dabbling in the affairs of APC.

These were contained in a statement issued by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), signed by a member, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Prof. Tahir Mamman.

The statement came in the backdrop of controversies over the supreme Court’s judgement on the legal status of Mai Mala Buni acting as the Chairman of the CECPC.

According to CECPC, members had “avoided making statements / pronouncements on the raging controversy with regards to its legality and that of its Chairman. It left the matter to be attended to by the leaders and senior stakeholders of the party.”

It said that the major reason was because CECPC had not obtained the full judgment of the Supreme Court, noting that make a comment on the issue without full knowledge of the judgement might have caused a serious problem for the party.

While citing that the position of the law is the decision of the majority judgment of the Supreme Court which is now the Law, it noted that though “minority judgment is important as it is, is not the judgment of the court.”

The statement further urged “all APC members who have sued the party to withdraw their cases and use the mechanism of reconciliation to address their grievances.”

It also advised members to channel all their energies and efforts toward the upcoming Congresses on order to ensure that the party remained united and harmonizes before and after the Congresses in preparation for the 2023 general elections.
