By Mike Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti
As 2022 gubernatorial polls in Ekiti State and the 2023 general elections gradually draw closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the state has commenced physical registration of voters, Nigerian NewsDirect reports.
The electoral body had earlier made it known that the exercise is meant for those who have earlier completed the online registration.
According to INEC, the exercise is taking place at INEC offices across the sixteen local governments of the state with one centre each and two venues at the commission’s state office in Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking with Nigerian NewsDirect in Ado-Ekiti, the INEC Head of voter’s Education and Publicity, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin implored eligible voters who have completed the online registration to make themselves available for the physical one and to be orderly.
Alhaji Gbadegesin however warned that there would be no registration by proxy, saying that anybody caught would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
He disclosed that the online registration had been temporarily suspended, pending that physical capturing of those who had earlier taken part in the online exercise.
