Oluwo, Mai of Tula sue for national unity

Nigerians have been urged to strengthen the country’s unity with brotherhood conducts.

The citizens were equally charged that  security challenges can never be won with frosty tribal sentiment but with cooperation among various ethnic attachments.

The charge was made by the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale and the Mai of Tula in Gombe State Dr Abubakar Buba.

The call was made at Oluwo’s Palace, Iwo, Osun State while receiving the secretary to the Gombe Council of Traditional Rulers, Mai of Tula, HRH Dr. Abubakar.

A statement issued after the visit, reads “The fragility of the current security challenge calls for caution among Nigerians. Such challenge can never be won on ethnic ground but rather through cooperation and understanding by seeing each other as Nigerian.

“The cooperation will strengthen us to flush out the black sheep in different ethnic groups and not outright condemnation of a tribe. Kidnapping and banditry are not fought and won on tribal lines. Without cooperation, security issue may never be addressed. Our problems are created collectively, solving it separately is a fallacy.

“We urge the government to interest Nigerians on programmes that will foster the needed peace, ensure harmonious coexistence and promote ether strength in our diversity.

“Unarguably, the good ones among the Fulanis are still needed to identify culprits or strangers committing crimes among them. The good of the bad must be identified to provide needed information to aid security assignment.

“The government must equally empower traditional institutions to be constitutional recognized. We are closer to the grassroots with much expectations but there is little to what can be achieved without constitutional empowerment. The government must look into this as a matter of urgency.”
