Ogun assures recycling companies of more support
Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta
Ogun state government said it will continue to provide enabling environment for recycling companies in the state to thrive for optimal productivity.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) Mr Ola Oresanya gave the assurance when he paid a working visit to three metal recycling companies.
The companies are Mathi Metal Recycling Limited, Merito Worldwide Impex Limited and Fenice Metal Industries Limited in Sagamu axis of the state.
Mr Oresanya said Ogun state which has the highest number of recycling industries in Nigeria and can aptly be called “Nigeria’s Recycling Capital” will continue to support them through circular economic programme which encourages waste minimization, recycling and re-use for the benefit of their business, society and the environment.
He also informed them of the state government’s plan to expose their operational staff to internationally recognised training regimes which will in the long run close the loop end to end so that their products would be of equal quality with their foreign counterparts, thereby enhancing their marketability at home and boost exportation.
In addition, Oresanya therefore counselled them to be better organised and update their registration for proper profiling so that they can benefit from the good intention of the state government and further directed them to adhere strictly to health and safety codes of their industry for the benefit of all.
Responding, the Human Resources Manager of Merito Worldwide Impex Limited, Alhaji Saliu Aminu who spoke on behalf of the companies pledged their support to new initiatives adding that recycling Industries and indeed the sub-sector as a whole are in for a new lease of life in the Gateway State under the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
