PDP disowns fake townhall meeting
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has disowned knowledge of a town hall meeting been attributed to the Party said to be organized by Generation Next in PDP.
In a press statement issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondyian as obtained by Nigerian NewsDirect, he described the town hall meeting as fake.
The statement reads in part “the attention of our great party has been drawn to fliers, advertisements and publications by certain faceless individuals, posturing to have the approval and backing of our party to invite Nigerians to a purported ‘Generation Next in PDP’ Townhall meeting.”
“The makers of the said advertisement even went ahead to list some leaders and members of our party, including Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Aminu Bello Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Deputy National Chairman, North of the PDP, Senator Suleiman Nazif among others, as speakers in the supposed event, in a bid to bestow a semblance of legitimacy to the scheme.”
According to him for the avoidance of doubt, the PDP in an unequivocal term says that it did not authorize nor is it in any way involved or connected with the event or the organizers.
The PDP therefore alerts the public, particularly our members and teeming supporters to completely disregard the said event as it has nothing to do with our party.
