Alleged fraud: EFCC detains Ondo Assembly Clerk, two others over N2.4 fraud

By Tobi Adetunji.

The Ondo State Assembly clerk Bode Aladeyelu and two other civil servants have been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC is investigating alleged fraud in the Ondo Assembly involving N2.4million, which was released to attend a two-day seminar organised by National Productivity Centre, Lagos.

It was alleged that those who collected the money never attended the seminar.

The Clerk and the two staff were said to have honoured the EFCC invitation but were detained over the weekend.

A source in the Assembly told Nigerian Newsdirect “It is true. The clerk of the House and Hon. Felemu Gudu Bankole along with two civil servants in the Assembly are there in the EFCC’s custody. They were detained there.

“Based on that invitation, all of them went there and they were detained last Thursday. I think the EFCC must have commenced their investigation into their matter.”

The spokesman of the Assembly Gbenga Omole declined to comment on the matter.

“I am not answering any question, I am going to address the press tomorrow, (Monday),” Omole declared.
