No more amnesty for criminals – Ortom

By Titus Atondu, Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has disclosed that  his administration will no longer negotiate with or grant amnesty to criminals under any guise.

Ortom made the disclosure over the weekend  in Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State at the burial of the murdered elder brother to former Governor of Benue State, Senator  Gabriel Suswam, Dr. Terkura Suswam and his aide, Solomon Tarnor.

He stated that government through the State Security Council, had declared total war on the assailants and other criminal elements in both Sankera and other parts of the State, stressed that no matter how long it would take, they would be defeated.

Ortom described late Dr. Suswam as a great mam who will ever be remembered for his legacies, pointing out that he died struggling to bring peace, prosperity and economic development to his community Anyiin.

The Governor expressed fear that many people who have the capacity may not be willing to come back to the villages and do investment for fear of the unknown, appealing however that people should not be distracted by the unfortunate incident.

“You can see in Anyiin alone, we have Ashi Polytechnic, Ashi International Market, Micro Finance Bank, Rice Mill and these are the things that we are woeing investors to come and do because government does not have the resources to do it alone,” Governor Ortom stated.

He further explained that Government does not have the capacity to do these alone and Dr. Terkura Suswam saw it but unfortunately, he had to meet his death right here in Anyiin struggling to work and add value to the economic development of the community.”
