Lagos Police arrest Mushin kingpins with arms, impound motorcycles, nab fleeing suspected robbers

The Lagos State Police command has arrested three kingpins of some deadly gangs and other suspected armed robbers.

The operation which was carried out  over the weekend by  the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) was  led by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi  who   stormed the criminal hideouts in Mushin Area of  Lagos.

Egbeyemi said, it was a follow up to earlier discreet investigations by the squad’s Decoy Team to Eko Boys High School, Showunmi Street and Itire Road.

In a statement by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State CP Hakeem Odumosu, hinted that, in order to reduce the spate of traffic robbery and sanitize the state, the police had  impounded  twenty nine vehicle on “BRT” Lane and around “ile zik” over the weekend.

He said, “The impoundment of 29 motorcycles during the weekend operation was to reduce the reported incidences of traffic robbery and in enforcement of the restriction order of the State Government on the corridor for motorcyclists.

“He said, the motorcycles were impounded  on BRT lane in Ikeja Along and Ile Zik as well as Allen Junction, which are restricted routes for motorcycles.”

In another development and part of its frantic efforts, the Police also  arrested additional two suspected armed robbers in connection with the case  of one   Peter Arinola, aka Blood, earlier  arrested with an English pistol at Empire area of Surulere where he  threatened and harassed a commercial sex worker.

“The suspects whose names  are;  Sheriff Shonibare, m, aka Stainless and Quadri Ayonuga, m, aka Sugar, were arrested in Idimu during a stop and search operation last week, as a follow up to the intelligence.

The Police said, they are assisting  in their investigation as many revelations are being made.

The Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu has directed that the Commnader RRS, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi works with other investigation units to conclude investigations on the kingpins and other suspects arrested in Mushin while the motorcyclists be charged to mobile court Oshodi with immediate effect.

Odumosu  restated his commitment to sustain the due enforcement of all laws in Lagos State including COVID-19 protocols and traffic regulations..
