NWFL: Edo Queens FC coaches worry over injury-hit squad

Rollanson Odeh, Technical Manager of Edo Queens FC, has expressed worry over his injury-hit squad in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

The handler of the Benin based club expressed his worries in an interview with newsmen in Benin on Thursday.

Odeh said this affected the team’s game against the Nasarawa Amazons on Wednesday night.

He said his team would have scored more than a goal in the encounter played under floodlight at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin if not for the injuries.

The manager, however, commended the girls for putting up a spirited fight to secure the three maximum points at stake.

“I thank God for the victory; my girls did excellently well in this tough game against Nasarawa Amazons here at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin-City.

“You can see that I have a depleted squad, almost six of my regular players are suffering from one injury or the other,’’ he stated.

Odeh, however, prayed that the injured players recovered quick enough before their away match against Bayelsa Queens FC in Yenagoa.

He prayed that before the next match in Bayelsa on Feb. 17, “one or two of them must have recovered’’.

The Edo Queens handler said he remained optimistic that the team would continue to improve in all departments of the game as the league progresses.

Reports state that the team now occupies the third position on the league table with 11 points after their home match against Nasarawa Amazons.

Edo Queens have played five matches so far, winning three and drawing two.

They will be away to Bayelsa Queens FC in their week six encounter.
