The wife of Ogun State governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the Chairman, Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, former member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu and a philanthropist, Esther Ajayi, are among dignitaries expected to grace a book launch on sickle cell anaemia.

The book entitled ‘Memoir of a Sickle Cell Warrior’, authored by a sufferer and founder of Oladipupo Sickle Cell Foundation, Dotun Oladipupo, is slated for launch on Thursday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

In a statement by Oladipupo, on Monday, the book launch is coming ten years after his first book ‘Fate’, a fictional prose story of a sickle cell anaemia patient.

According to the statement, the memoir encapsulates the author’s three years of his protracted battle with chronic sickle cell anaemia.

“The launch also coincides with the 10 years anniversary of the Oladipupo Foundation for Sickle Cell which initially started off as Help a Sickle Child Foundation.

“There will be a special segment during the event, which is tagged ‘Adopt a Warrior’. The idea is for people of goodwill to adopt a challenged child, and support him or her financially or by way of scholarship.

“Single mothers, unemployed graduates who are warriors can also be supported under this initiative of ours. It is our belief that this will go a long way in helping warriors fight their way out of life’s varying challenges,” the statement concluded.
