Court remands man over alleged motorcycle theft

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Wednesday, remanded a 20-year-old Ismaila Tahiru, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, Insp Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 11, 2019 at about 10:04 am. at Temidire area of Ile-Ife.

Emmanuel said that the defendant stole the motorcycle, with registration number: FEE 723 QE, valued at N290,000, property of one Peter Ogunleye.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

The Magistrate, A. I. Oyebadejo, refused to grant bail to the defendant.

Oyebadejo ordered the defendant to be remanded in Correctional Centre at Ile-Ife.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till Jan 27, for ruling on the bail application.
