Mechanic docked over alleged theft of handsets worth N11, 500

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a Mechanic, Boniface Yexe, in Karu, Abuja, for allegedly stealing two handsets worth N11,500.

Yexe, 30, who lives in Karu area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju, told the court that the defendant broke into the home of the complainant, Sadiq Lawal, and allegedly stole two handsets valued at N11,500.

Adeyanju said Lawal reported the theft at a police station in Karu.

He said the defendant was arrested and efforts to recover the handsets proved abortive.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Anas Mohammed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Mohammed said the two sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
