Three siblings in Ogun police net over murder of So-Safe officer

Ogun state police command has arrested three brothers; Okiki Mulero aged 23, Micheal Mulero 21, and 17 years old Joseph Mulero for beating to death a So-Safe officer, Segun Godfrey Barde working as security guard at OGD Estate, Asero, Abeokuta on the eve of last year Christmas.

Trouble was said to have started when Segun, while on duty had allegedly denied one of the suspects, Okiki Mulero, a commercial cyclist, entrance into the estate for carrying more than one passenger contrary to the rule of the estate.

According to statement from   Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Monday, this action of the So-Safe officer was said to have infuriated Okiki  after which he called his two brothers, Micheal and Joseph Mulero who came to the scene and joined him to attack the two security guards on duty with planks.

Sadly, one of the security men, Segun Godfrey Barde was hit with a plank and he slumped. He was subsequently rushed to O&A hospital where he  gave up the ghost on Friday 25th of December 2020 while receiving treatment.

The case was said to have been reported at Obantoko divisional headquarters by the CDA executives of the estate, consequent upon which the DPO, CSP Sunday Opebiyi detailed his detectives to go after the suspects and were subsequently apprehended.

The police disclosed that the three suspects have all confessed to the commission of the crime.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Cp Edward A. Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfers of the case to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution while the corpse of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary for post mortem examination.
