6 men in court over alleged threat of life

Six men,who allegedly threatening a man with dangerous weapons,were on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’Court in Ogun.

The defendants- Musa Rasheed,46,Tijani Rahmoni,47,Olayinka Olatunji,42,Ishola Temitope,21 Idris Isaiaka,25, and Dada Olayinka,24,whose addresses were not provided, at the time of filling this report are facing a  three-count charge of threat to life,breach of peace and conspiracy.

The prosecutor,Insp Emmanuel Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept.17,2020 at about 9.00a.m.at Ajibode Community,Ota.

Adaraloye said the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by threatening the complainant, Chief Adesina Isadare,with dangerous weapons like Cutlass and guns.

He added that they intimidated and unlawfully entered into the Ajibode land belonging to one Isadare.

Adaraloye said that the offences contravened Sections 86,335 and 516 of the Criminal Code,Laws of Ogun,2006.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs  A.O.Adeyemi, granted  N50,000 bail to each of the defendants with one surety each in like sum.

She directed that the surety must resides within the court’s jurisdiction and the address should be verified by the court.

The case was adjourned until Feb.8 for further hearing.
