Dr. Olakunle Oladehin popularly known as Kunlala, a Medical Doctor and Philanthropist celebrated his 50th years birthday in grand style with fund raising for his alma mater, Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Ikeja.

The fund raising took place on Sunday 9th of April 2023 at the Queens Court Event Centre victoria Island Lagos.

The celebration was dedicated to raise fund to support his alma mater Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Ikeja in Lagos State.

In an interview with select journalists, he expressed that it feels great to be 50 today and can still remember his 10th, 18th and 40th birthday which were very important milestone in his life. He expressed gratitude to God for being alive and for the beautiful people that surrounded him.

When asked why organising fundraising for his alma mater,he said, “At the age of 10 my mother had to withdraw me from a private educational institution to a public educational institution then because the public school educational system was better then, but few decades down the line, the public educational system has become so bad and very disappointing.

“As the former president of the 1984 Alumni set, we started a project on making great changes to Adeniyi Jones Primary School, which you all have all seen and there is still more work to be done. So, I implore my dear friends to join me on this quest to improve the standard of education at Adeniyi Jones Primary School. If the funds are sufficiently enough we hope to move this changes to other schools as well.

“So, I am organising this fund raising to create awareness around the impact of our individual and collective contributions to the public school system instead of waiting all the time for the government every time to do this. I believe that as individuals that we have a lot also that we can do. So, the goal here is for us to create a conducive learning environment for these pupils where they can flourish, thrive and learn. My goal will be to have a primary education system that is equipped with all the necessary tools for advance learning driven by IT.  We are putting internet and necessary gadgets in the school for the students to harness these opportunities. I think, last but not the least, is that I want to make Adeniyi Jones primary school a model as a tech hub where young future IT professionals will begin to be harnessed.”

Olakunle being a medical doctor has offered his clinical skills to support initiatives where health screening activities are carried out in societies as well as churches.

He disclosed that he sees himself in five years still making impact and solution regardless of what position he is. His hope for the future is never to see a Nigerian child roaming the streets aimlessly. He  also added that  his long term goal is to see that every child gets access to qualitative education in a conducive environment.
