The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC), men have rescued a 45 year old man kidnapped and dumped in a local pond after losing the sum of N800,000:00 to his captors in Sule Tankarkar, in Gumel Emirate of Jigawa State.
The rescuers said they discovered one Mallam B. Dauda, 45, of Maigatarin Bawan Allah Village, in Garki Local Government Area, whom they met unconscious beside a pond along Gumel-Babura Road in Sule Tankarkar, opposite the local government secretariat on Thursday.
The security officials hinted that the victim regained consciousness after receiving treatment at the Primary Health Care Center in Sule Tankarkar .
The men of the Civil Defence Corps confirmed that the victim was kidnapped in Dutse Local Government Area by kidnappers on Wednesday, along Dutse-Kiyawa Road after he withdrew the sum of N800,000:00 from his bank.
The victim narrated how he was kidnapped after boarding a taxi by the roadside which was meant to convey him to Garki.
He explained that while he was trying to board a motorbike to the motor park, a taxi pulled over. The driver asked him where he was going, and innocently, told him he was travelling to Garki. The driver offered to take him, since he was plying the same route.
He claimed to have entered the vehicle which already had other “passengers”. He said it was already dark by the time they got to Sule Tankarkar which made it difficult for him to know their movement, only to find himself in a building together with other hostages.
He mentioned that one among the hostages told him how he came to Jigawa to purchase beans only to be kidnapped and taken there.
His captors contacted his relatives demanding the sum of N5,000,000:00 as ransom, which he told his people not to pay. Angered by this, they made him to inhale a substance which made him unconscious. The next he could remember was the hospital experience. He said he was told that he was found by the pond side along Gumel-Babura Road. The money he withdrew from the bank was taken away by these hoodlums.
The victim was confirmed to be a staff of Local Education Authority in Garki Local Government Area.
The NSCDC Command is working assiduously alongside other security formations to apprehend those kidnappers and to rescue the remaining victims.
They however urged the general public not to board taxi outside motor parks, so as not fall prey into the hands of these criminal elements and their hideous plans, rather, should patronize motor parks and other designated places for their movements.
The Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Civil Command, ASC Adamu Shehu has confimed the incident.
