40ft Container falls on Apapa Port access bridge, cripples traffic

A 40ft fully loaded container on Monday night fell on the Ijora bridge by 7up, inward Total, in Zone 22 Orile Iganmu, blocking the entire carriageway for vehicular movement.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA said traffic is being diverted through the service lanes toward Ijora Badia to mitigate congestion and ensure the flow of vehicles.

The LASTMA post read: “Last night at 11:51 pm, a minor incident occurred on Ijora bridge by 7up, inward Total, in Zone 22 Orile Iganmu.

“A 40ft loaded container fell on its side, blocking the main carriage way.

“The LRU has been notified and is taking immediate action to address the situation.

“Meanwhile, traffic is being diverted through the service lanes toward Ijora Badia to mitigate congestion and ensure the flow of vehicles.”
