345 rural road grading: Osun ALGON Chair, Abiodun lauds geometric progression across councils

…Reiterates commitment to democratic dividends

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON in Osun, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun has lauded the swift response of the leadership of the Councils across the State on the need to ensure prompt delivery of the ongoing grading of rural roads in their various domains.

The State ALGON Chairman also expressed satisfaction on the level of works done in the various councils saying, “It is highly impressive to see the geometric progression on the roads project.”

This is even as he reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and equitable distribution of resources at the grassroots.

Recall that the ALGON Chairman had few weeks ago announced the approval of the State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to embark on massive rural roads grading.

According to the Governor’s approval, the Council Chairmen were expected to grade over 345 rural roads across the 69 Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas, Area Councils, and Adminstrative Offices in the state.

Hon. Abiodun stated these while giving an update on the level of work across the Councils in the State.

Abiodun who is also the Caretaker Chairman, Ifedayo Local Government Area, said upgrading exercise was embarked on to make some of the rural roads more passable for the dwellers particularly farmers whose source of livelihood hinged on the state of rural roads.

He expressed confidence in the ability of his colleagues to deliver adequately and proficiently on the mandate given them to ensure free flow of human and vehicular movement from rural to urban centres.

The ALGON Chairman, added that immediate commencement of the earth grading of the roads has in no measure contributed significantly to the socioeconomic and general well-being of the people of their various domains.

He stated further: “As I speak to you, work has gone far in each of the Councils across the State. My colleagues didn’t only take the work as priority but also ensured that quality job is done.

“We are committed to the welfare of our people and by the grace of God nothing will make us to go less. I can I assure you that all the enlisted roads across the councils will be delivered as expected.

“We are doing everything humanly possible to complement the state  government’s efforts across sectors particularly in the areas of security, education, infrastructure, agriculture and economy.

“Our preference is good governance across levels that is why we have keyed into the noble Development Agenda of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola led Administration in the State.

“It is my hope that when these roads are completed, it will help to facilitate more development, improve on the local and state economy and by extension make lives more comfortable for the citizens particularly those at the grassroots.”
