34 women receive training on cosmetology in Jigawa

No fewer than 34 women drawn from various local governments and communities have received intensive training for five days under the Hasnur Initiative for Women Development.

The director of the forum, Hajia Hadiza Abdulwahab, said 70 per cent of the population based on the 2006 population census live in the rural areas and women, making 49.6 per cent with limited access to credicts facilities, health care, education and other challenges.

Jigawa state has increased the income of poor women and also created conducive atmosphere to tackle social crises and facilitate grassroots economic development and improve access to better health care, education, and labour-saving facilities.

Also in his contribution, Professor Gambo Babandi Gumel said youth women empowerment is very important because of its critical role in poverty reduction and economic growth of a country.

“It will no doubt equip the participant with the necessary skills to self reliants to improved their livelihood.”

He commended the sponsors of the programme for their commitment towards improving the economic and social status of the teaming women and youth to be employers of labour tomorrow.

The professor added that the Federal University of Dutse is ever ready to collaborate with organisations to promote wealth creation and sustainable economic development of citizens.

He then urged the participants to make good use of the skills they have acquired in order to become self reliant and employers of labour, which will lead to poverty reduction for sustainable development.
