The Chairman, Governing Board of Amotekun in Osun State, Brig-Gen Isa Aderibigbe rtd has disclosed that the number of police in Nigeria is not enough to secure the entire country.
Aderibigbe stated this during the maiden edition of the Osun Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) platform in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Speaking on the theme of the programme; “Appraisal Of State Of Security In Nigeria, Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow; The Way Forward,” he said, “300,000 police is not enough for the population of over 200 Million.”
He, however, noted that Police should be employed and trained to boost the country’s security.
Brig-Gen Isa added that more security agencies should be added at the land borders and must be properly equipped with adequate arms and ammunition to reduce insecurity in the state.
“The local government should also be given autonomy, as the local government Chairman is the governor of the people at the grassroot level.
“They should be given the freedom to appoint and employ people at their locality, as this will eradicate the level of unemployment in the society,” he added.
