Three men on Thursday appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly being in possession of stolen bathroom fittings worth N500, 000.
The police charged Yahaya Tijani,46, Sadiq Halidu, 37 and Saheed Lukeman, 42 with receiving stolen property.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abudullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Nachrist Onyedikachi, reported the matter at Iddo Police Station on Jan. 20.
Tanko said that another suspect, Abdulkarim Audu , broke into his house and stole 11 toilet seats, 10 wash–hand basin and some showers all worth N500, 000.
He said that Audu sold the stolen items to the three defendants and during investigation, some of the items were recovered.
The prosecution counsel said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code law.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Aliyu Shafa, admitted each of the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one reasonable surety each in like sum.
Shafa ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present means of identification.
He adjourned the case until March 4, for hearing.
