3 men in court for alleged assault

Three men, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly assaulting one Wasiu Olaribigbe.

The defendants, Lateef Afolagboye, 25, Sheriff Muhammed, 22 and Idris Afolagboye, 21, are charged with conspiracy and assault.

They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Josephine Ikhaire, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 23 at Orotayo Street, Alakuko Road, Lagos State.

Ikhaire said the defendants’ gang beat up Olaribigbe and whipped him with fan belts over a little misunderstanding they had.

She said the defendants pounced on the complainant and beat him up, an act which caused bruises all over his body.

She said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 174 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, L.A Owolabi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
