The police in Ogun, on Friday, arraigned three men before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo for allegedly stealing two cows worth N1.4 million.

The defendants: Ibrahim Musa, 23, Aliu Rabiu, 30 and Musa Isiak, 25, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which they, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Ojo Adewusi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Oct. 22 at 1 a.m. at Aderupatan village in Obafemi Owode area of Ogun.

Adewusi said that the defendants stole the cows belonging to the complainant, Mr Abubakar Usman.

“When the complainant woke up in the morning, he noticed that two of his cows were missing.

“He traced the footprints of the cows to where the defendants camped, which led to their arrest,” the prosecutor said.

Adewusi said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 383 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.M. Somefun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Somefun said that the sureties must be licensed bondsmen registered with Ogun Government.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case till Dec. 10 for mention.
